Gunfire erupted in an east Birmingham neighborhood Saturday afternoon, leaving one man dead.
Birmingham police were dispatched at 3:24 p.m. to the 9100 block of 14th Avenue North on a report of a person shot. That area is off Zion City Road.
When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground near two vehicles on a dead-end street. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities said another person heard the shots and found the victim wounded.
A couple of vehicles were also hit by the shots.
No arrests have been made.
Multiple friends and family members are gathered outside in what has been a somewhat tense scene.
Several arguments have erupted outside the crime scene tape and one woman was hit with pepper spray after struggling with police.
