US and Philippines discuss tensions in the South China Sea

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed on Wednesday key issues with Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo.

According to a statement published by the US State Department, both parties focused on South China Sea tensions and reaffirmed their will to reinforce their “firm commitment under the Mutual Defense Treaty.”

“Secretary Blinken and Secretary Manalo also exchanged ideas on how to reinforce US-Philippines cooperation in the coming year, building on President Marcos’s official working visit to Washington, DC, this past May,” the statement added.
